Bradley Cooper, Ed Helms, Zach Galifianakis, and Justin Bartha star in the film, repeating their roles from "The Hangover." The key players are Ken Jeong and Jeffrey Tambor, who also returned from the first movie, and Mason Lee, Jamie Chung and Oscar ® nominee Paul Giamatti, who joined the ensemble.

Phillips directed the script he co-wrote with Craig Mazin and Scot Armstrong. Phillips also produced the film under his Green Hat Films banner, along with Dan Goldberg. Thomas Tull, Scott Budnick, Chris Bender and JC Spink are executive producers, David A. Siegel and Jeffrey Wetzel served as co-producer.
